Question about joining up right now?

I am 18, born Sep 1992 and just graduated high school (a year late, redid 5th grade twice) I have good health and my vision is fine my question is if I join the Army (U.S Army) for an Infantry job would I be shipped to Afghanistan or will the war likely be ended by the time I complete all training if that is the case and I am not sent overseas what do Infantrymen do besides train while on the job at there stations?
